Where will you be staying?
You will be staying at Eco Kecinan Bungalow, a simple eco-style bungalow located right by a quiet beach in Kecinan, North Lombok. The bungalow is situated in a beautiful coastal area where the sea meets local village life, giving you a peaceful and authentic island living experience close to nature and community. The beach here is known for its calm waters, tranquil vibe, and scenic views — perfect for both fresh sea air and reflection when you are off duty.
Each intern will have a private room, ensuring your own personal space and comfort during your stay. Meals are provided three times a day, so you won’t need to worry about daily food logistics. Drinking water, electricity, and basic utilities at the bungalow are consistently available, though electricity and internet may occasionally vary due to weather or local conditions — this is common for coastal and village areas like Kecinan, and part of island living.
Coral Monitoring
you will learn and practice how to monitor coral reef ecosystems.
There are 3 specializations that you will master, Coral Monitoring, Fish Monitoring, and Megabenthos Monitoring. The data collected will be included in a portal that can be accessed by the government, so that it can be used as a reference for consideration of conservation areas.

Coral Restoration
In this week, you will learn how to do site selection, method choice (reef stars, trees, etc.) Hands-on training in installing restoration structures on the seabed, fragment attachment. Monitoring & Evaluation, key metric assessment (survival rate, growth, biodiversity), data analysis, and impact reporting.

Restoration toolkit
Marine Mega Fauna
In this week, you will learn how to identified marine turtle and shark, how to do data collection for them, and how to analyze Photo ID.

Shark Week
This week, your focus will shift to the study of elasmobranch ecology, initiating with protocols for non-invasive data collection and species identification. Your research will involve a transect survey across the marine ecosystems of Gili Trawangan, Gili Petelu, and Teluk Saleh to gather population data on local shark species.
